Insomniac partnered with Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) to create and execute a nationwide campaign for National “Shout Out For Solar” Day, celebrated on January 24, 2014. Insomniac was given four weeks to develop the concept, design and launch the campaign. The campaign made waves across the nation, setting new social media records for SEIA, as well as an unofficial record for “enthusiasm” by solar activists nationwide.
SEIA gained 36,585 new fans on Facebook, more than doubling the number of likes from 34,158 to 70,743. The Facebook photo album, “I like solar”, was our most popular post ever – with more than 10,500 clicks and nearly 1,500 likes. Using the #GoSolar hashtag on Twitter, thousands of accounts sent hundreds of pictures and tens of thousands of tweets, reaching more than three million people. SEIA had a 65% increase in unique visitors to the website. Nearly 50 million Americans heard or read something positive about solar energy during the week-long campaign. The campaign resulted in widespread participation by leading environmental groups, including the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, Sierra Club, Environmental Defense Fund, National Audubon Society and The Climate Group. The campaign garnered enthusiastic support of leading U.S. corporations, including Walmart, FedEx, GE, Dupont, General Motors, Duke Energy and PSG&E, among others.
